Junior Preschool
At Graiguecullen Parish Childcare Centre, we run a Junior Preschool which is designed for children from 2 years and 6 months. The Junior Preschool is open Monday – Friday, from 9am – 12pm and Longer Day Care is open Monday - Friday from 9am to 3pm. We also provide breakfast and a mid-morning snack.
Junior Preschool is available for 3 hours per day, 5 days per week for 38 weeks from September to June. Fees are set at the beginning of each year at a rate that takes account of affordability for parents and of the sustainability of the service.
To be eligible for government subvention and avail of reduced fees, parents must supply an up-to-date receipt of their social welfare payment and proof of their own and their child’s PPS Number to the office.
No extra fee will be charged for any additional activities the children take part in throughout the year. The fee schedule for the service is displayed on the Parents Noticeboard in the office.
Fees are collected at the end of each week and are based on the number of days per week that your child is enrolled in the service.
There is no charge for bank holidays or days that the Preschool is closed i.e. Christmas, Easter, Holidays, Mid-terms.

The Food and Nutrition Guidelines for Preschool Services were issued by The Department of Health and Children in April 2004. Following this, community dieticians throughout the country delivered training on the guidelines to preschool providers. When evaluating this training, dieticians in the Health Promotion Department, HSE Dublin Mid-Leinster, identified a need for nutrition support materials to aid the implementation of the guidelines. A 3-week menu plan was devised. A copy of our menus are available to download below.

Year 1 – Transition from home/Junior Preschool to ECCE Preschool
Year 2 – Preparation for transition to Primary School
Monday – Friday 9 am – 12 pm
Breakfast is included each morning. We have Degree qualified staff who are fully trained in Child Protection, First Aid, HACCP and Manual Handling. There are no fees charged for participation in the ECCE Free Preschool years. Every eligible child is entitled to 3 hours per day, 5 days per week for 38 weeks from September to June. You will be asked to sign a letter acknowledging this in September.
